The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) has selected David Bindel, professor of computer science in the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, as one of its 2024 SIAM Fellows. 

SIAM is an international community numbering more than 14,000 members that seeks to advance the development of applied mathematical and computational techniques to further science, engineering, industry, and society.

The Simons Foundation has selected David Bindel, associate professor of computer science in the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, as the new director of the Simons Collaboration on Hidden Symmetries and Fusion Energy.
