Nate Foster, professor of computer science, has been named the next associate dean for research for the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, beginning Nov. 18. Foster succeeds Thorsten Joachims, the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor of computer science and information science, who first held this position in 2021.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the research and development arm of the U.S. Department of Defense, has named Nate Foster, professor of computer science in the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, the vice chair of the Information Science & Technology (ISAT) Study Group, beginning in August.

Professor Nate Foster has been appointed the interim associate dean for research for the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. Foster will fulfill this role while Professor Thorsten Joachims is on sabbatical for the 2022-2023 academic year.
