The Cornell Bowers CIS Research Office supports research initiatives across the college by promoting, developing, and collaborating with internal and external partners.
This includes:
-
Coordinating new research initiatives
-
Collaborating with the Office of Vice Provost for Research and Innovation (OVPRI)
-
Expanding the college’s engagement and research leadership
-
Working closely with SRAC
Our major duties involve strategic partnerships, proposal development and undergraduate research.
Strategic Partnerships
Cornell Bowers CIS research is ripe for collaboration and sponsorship from corporate and foundation partners. The Research Office works to identify, secure, and match potential partners to our research needs through grants, fellowships, sponsorships, and gifts.
Proposal Development
The Research Office helps Cornell Bowers CIS faculty develop their research proposals. Different from the duties and responsibilities of SRAC - the Research Office can write (non-technical sections), edit, and provide guidance on all aspects of a research proposal. For large, collaborative proposals, the Research Office can also help manage the proposal team. We also provide and continuously update the many proposal resources available in this Cornell Box folder.
Undergraduate Research (BURE)
The Bowers CIS Undergraduate Research Experience (BURE) matches Cornell Bowers CIS undergraduates to faculty mentors for a paid research experience. BURE is an incredible opportunity for undergraduates to gain new skills and explore what research is all about. The Research Office runs this program along with faculty leads from our three departments.
