Kimberly A. Hochstedler Webb, Ph.D. ’24, has been awarded the Gertrude M. Cox Scholarship from the American Statistical Association (ASA).

Webb is currently an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research involves designing novel statistical methodologies for imperfect data to answer questions in public health and the social sciences.

She earned a Ph.D. in statistics under the mentorship of Martin Wells, the Charles A. Alexander Professor of Statistical Sciences in the Cornell Ann. S Bowers College of Computing and Information Science and Director of Research in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

Sponsored by the ASA Committee on Women in Statistics and the Caucus for Women in Statistics, the Cox Scholarship was established in 1989 to encourage more women to enter statistically oriented professions. The scholarship includes a $1,000 award.

Webb received a master’s in biostatistics from the University of Michigan in 2020 and a bachelor’s in statistics and psychology from Carnegie Mellon University in 2018.
