Cornell Computing & Information Science will be well represented September 20-23 at the ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing in Atlanta, GA. CIS is sending 29 students all-expenses-paid to this premier venue to promote diversity in computing. The conference brings together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, researchers and professionals to connect and form communities around diversity in computing. “I am looking forward to attending a Microsoft Workshop on the field of Big Data, exploring different technology companies and further expanding my network,” said Bryan Scanapieco, a Cornell freshman interested in the field of information science.
Professor Richard Tapia is a national leader in diversity and has inspired a generation of African-American, Native American, and Latino-Latina students to pursue careers in mathematics. CIS and Cornell Tech has platinum sponsors of this year’s conference.
