Mark your calendars! Cornell CIS will co-sponsor a screening of Hidden Figures on April 13 at 6:30 pm at Cornell Cinema. Hidden Figures chronicles how NASA mathematicians/computer scientists Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson and Dorothy Vaughan overcame racial discrimination to play a critical role in astronaut John Glenn’s space mission in 1962.
The screening will be following by a short talk by Professor Kim Weeden, the Jan Rock Zubrow ‘77 Professor of Social Sciences. Kim is the Chair of the Department of Sociology and the Director of the Center for the Study of Inequality. Her research investigates income equality, gender, social class and education.
